Donald Trump recently posted an image on Truth Social showing a ‘crystal clear’ reflecting pool, following issues with algae at the Lincoln Memorial reflecting pool.
On July 5, the former US president shared an update regarding ongoing refurbishment work at this national monument.
Initially, the reflecting pool received a fresh coat of paint, transitioning to a dark blue shade that Trump referred to as ‘American flag blue’.
However, soon after this, the pool’s color turned from ‘American flag blue’ to an algal green due to the growth of microscopic plants.
While the exact cause of the algae bloom wasn’t identified, subsequent efforts to address the algae revealed some peeling paint at the pool’s bottom.
Trump has now taken to social media to announce that the expensive renovations are nearing completion, asserting that the water is now ‘crystal clear’.

It’s been revealed that the images Trump shared were originally posted on X on June 17, coinciding with the completion of the initial pool work but prior to the algae issue.
The pool is set to be drained once more after the Fourth of July festivities to remove lingering firework debris, marking the second drainage in three months.
Interior Secretary Doug Burgum communicated with Katie Miller, a conservative podcaster married to Stephen Miller, Trump’s deputy chief of staff, according to CNN.
Burgum explained the plan as follows: “Drain the water. Clean up the fireworks stuff. Repair the vandalism that was done. Fill it back up again.”

Trump cited information from Interior Department official Gregory Wischer, who stated that ‘advanced nanobubbler technology’ effectively managed the algae that has historically affected the Lincoln Reflecting Pool.
Wischer mentioned: “The vacuuming is the final maintenance step after refilling the pool, and it will be complete in a few days.”
Referring to tensions in Iran, the update noted that the next task involves ‘vacuuming up the dead algae resting on the bottom of some parts of the Reflecting Pool — just like the destroyed Iranian Navy resting on the bottom of the Persian Gulf.’
This refurbishment project has caught Trump’s attention, leading him to describe the algal situation in the pool as ‘criminally made’.
