Judge Disturbed After Viewing Unseen Footage of Charlie Kirk’s Death

A judge overseeing the preliminary hearing in the case of Charlie Kirk’s suspected murderer was visibly affected when the recording of the tragic incident was shown in court.

Charlie Kirk, a known far-right figure and activist, was fatally shot on September 10, 2025, during an event at a college campus.

Tyler Robinson, aged 23, was subsequently arrested and charged with multiple offenses, including aggravated murder and obstructing justice, a few days after the incident.

A preliminary hearing has now taken place for Robinson, who has yet to submit a plea concerning the charges tied to Kirk’s death, including the murder charge.

The hearing, presided over by Utah State District Judge Tony Graf, included the showing of the video capturing Kirk’s death, which the court watched in complete silence.

Courtroom footage displayed Judge Graf’s discomfort as he viewed the video at the Provo, Utah courthouse.

Erika Kirk, donned in black, attended the five-day hearing along with Kirk’s parents, Robert and Kathryn Kirk.

Robinson was also present in court, and the Daily Mail noted that he was seen laughing at one point.

During the incident, Kirk was addressing an audience at a Turning Point USA rally at Utah Valley University when he was struck in the neck by a bullet.

Before the hearing, Erika shared a statement on social media, expressing that, “Every court proceeding serves as a painful reminder of his death, and the loss that has irrevocably impacted our lives and the lives of his children.”

She further added, “Out of respect for the judicial process, we will not be commenting further at this time. We ask for continued privacy as we navigate this process and immense grief.”

Prosecutors are pursuing the death penalty in connection to Kirk’s death.

Charlie Kirk, a significant supporter of Donald Trump, had the presence of Trump’s son, Donald Trump Jr., at the court as the prosecution began presenting evidence.

The purpose of the hearing was to decide if Robinson should face trial for the charges linked to Kirk’s death.

There was a discussion regarding the presentation of evidence, including video material, during the court proceedings about the case.

At 12pm, Kirk was hosting a scheduled event at Utah Valley University (UVU).

At 12.23pm, while responding to a question on gun violence, Kirk was shot in the neck, slumping over and being carried away as the crowd reacted in panic.

By 2.40pm, President Donald Trump confirmed Kirk’s passing on Truth Social, stating: “The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead. No one understood or had the Heart of the Youth in the United States of America better than Charlie.”

He continued, “He was loved and admired by ALL, especially me, and now, he is no longer with us.”

Authorities, at a press conference, revealed they had found a bolt-action rifle wrapped in a towel, along with bullet casings featuring phrases such as ‘Hey fascist, catch!’ and ‘notices, bulges, OWO, what’s this?’, a nod to the furry subculture.

Meanwhile, the FBI distributed images and videos of a ‘person of interest.’ Tyler Robinson’s mother reportedly identified him, leading his parents to confront him.

Robinson later surrendered to the authorities.

On the show Fox and Friends, Trump announced that a suspect was in custody, saying: “Essentially, someone that was very close to him turned him in.”

Subsequently, Robinson’s arrest was confirmed by authorities, who mentioned he confessed to his father, prompting a call to a family friend, who then contacted the US Marshals for his apprehension.

After Kirk’s passing, his widow Erika stated that his movement ‘is not going anywhere.’

She declared, “You have no idea the fire you’ve ignited within this wife. The cries of this widow will echo around the world like a battle cry.”

Prosecutors disclosed that Robinson faced charges including aggravated murder, violent offence commission in the presence of a child, two counts of witness tampering, two counts of justice obstruction, and felony firearm discharge. Robinson subsequently made his initial court appearance.

Utah County Attorney Jeff Gray announced the intention to seek the death penalty upon conviction, noting, “I do not take this decision lightly.”

During Kirk’s memorial on September 21, Erika took the stage to honor her husband and explain why she had ‘forgiven’ his killer.

She expressed, “My husband, he wanted to save young men, just like the one who took his life. On the cross, our saviour said: ‘Father, forgive them for they not know what they do’.”

She concluded, “That man, that young man, I forgive him. I forgive him because it was what Christ did, and it is what Charlie would do.”

A five-day preliminary hearing commenced, during which prosecutors presented evidence against Robinson.
