England Star to Miss Remainder of World Cup Following ‘Severe’ Injury Resulting in Hospitalization

An English soccer team member is sidelined for the rest of the World Cup due to an injury that required hospitalization.

England secured a narrow victory against Mexico at the Azteca Stadium in Mexico City, winning 3-2 in a challenging match.

This match marked only the third time Mexico has been defeated at the Azteca Stadium, with the last loss occurring 13 years ago.

The England team is now preparing to advance to the quarter-finals, where they will face Norway, who surprised many with their win over Brazil.

Unfortunately for one of England’s players, the World Cup journey has ended prematurely due to an injury sustained while celebrating the win over Mexico, as reported by The Athletic.

Jordan Henderson needs surgery following an injury to his wrist.

Henderson was climbing over the advertising boards during the post-match celebrations when he slipped.

The midfielder, who plays for Brentford and has previously captained Liverpool, fell awkwardly and was stretchered off the field, receiving oxygen.

He was then transported to a hospital with a member of England’s medical team and did not return to the team’s base in Kansas City.

Henderson had been substituted into the match against Mexico during an eventful game that featured five goals and a red card.

England’s manager, Thomas Tuchel, addressed the media afterward, confirming Henderson’s hospital visit.

“I’m sad because Jordan injured his wrist,” Tuchel remarked.

“It’s quite serious. He’s in hospital. It doesn’t fit with the rest of the evening. I don’t know the procedure.”

England midfielder Jude Bellingham, who scored twice in the match, reassured reporters that the situation was under control despite being concerning.

“He is in a bit of bother, but our medical team have everything under control,” Bellingham said. “I’m not best to give too much detail as I do not know much going on, but everyone was there to support him.”

Henderson earned his 90th cap for England in the group stage match against Panama.

England triumphed over Mexico, even though the co-hosts had a stronger start to the tournament, winning all three of their group matches, while England won two and drew one.

The English team overcame the home advantage to win in what was a closely contested match.
