Trump rekindles feud with Italian PM by making unusual stalking accusation

The ongoing conflict between Donald Trump and Giorgia Meloni shows no signs of resolution, especially following the latest unusual claim the former president has shared online.

Trump has recently made another striking statement on social media, just weeks after a previous exchange with Meloni gained significant attention.

Previously, the Italian Prime Minister refuted Trump’s allegations that she ‘begged’ him for a photograph at the June G7 summit in France, labeling these accusations as ‘false’.

The relationship between the two, who once seemingly respected each other, has deteriorated since Meloni defended the Pope against Trump’s criticism when he expressed disapproval of the Iran war.

The situation escalated when the Italian Prime Minister responded to the US president’s remarks in a June 19 Instagram post, expressing her surprise at his claim that he ‘felt sorry for her.’

She responded on Instagram, writing: “Frankly, I am stunned. Italy and I never beg. Some things deserve an immediate response. I don’t know why the US president behaves this way towards his allies.

“It’s not the first time it’s happened. I can only say it’s unfortunate he doesn’t show the same determination towards the West’s enemies.”

Recently, tensions had subsided with Trump focusing on the US hosting the World Cup and the 4th of July festivities. However, this truce was short-lived.

Trump has now targeted Meloni again, this time insinuating she is a stalker, in a post on his Truth Social account.

He shared a photograph of Meloni smiling at him, captioned: “Restraining order needed.”

One person commented: “Um… Melania @MelaniaTrump outshines her. She doesn’t stand a chance with Melania!”

Another remarked: “I mean, she’s not looking at him very presidentially. However, we do all adore you Sir. Just hope she was in a position of adornment. Otherwise, I’m on the First Lady’s team and I got your back @MelaniaTrump.”

Although Meloni has not commented on this latest incident, she has previously criticized Trump’s ‘senseless’ and ‘constant, unprovoked attacks.’

“As for my popularity, being your friend has certainly not helped it, nor does it depend on my relationship with you,” she stated after Trump made a joke about her approval ratings. “My popularity is none of your concern. I suggest you focus on yours.”

UNILAD has contacted both the White House and Giorgia Meloni for remarks.
