The President of the United States has shared his views on the contentious World Cup match between England and Mexico, which resulted in a victory for England.
As the world tuned in with varying levels of interest to watch England face off against Mexico at the challenging Azteca Stadium on July 5, it turns out the U.S. President was also keenly watching the live broadcast.
Given that Mexico had only two losses in their 89 competitive matches at the high-altitude stadium, the English national team seemed to be at a disadvantage from the start.
However, that expectation did not hold true.
In the end, England emerged victorious with a 3-2 scoreline, marking Mexico’s third loss in 90 home games and their first World Cup defeat.
While many English fans around the world celebrated the win, it seems that former President Donald Trump also had his own take on the team’s performance.

In particular, Trump praised Harry Kane, who scored the final goal and assisted in the second goal.
Jude Bellingham scored twice within 98 seconds, bringing the scores level before Mexico managed to add their goals, creating a tense atmosphere.
Thanks to England’s captain Kane, the team progressed to the next round.
Shortly after Kane’s decisive goal, Trump took to his social media platform, Truth Social, to laud the sportsman’s abilities.
He posted: “Harry Kane of England is a GREAT player!!!”
Kane was busy on the pitch, celebrating with his teammates and singing Oasis’ Wonderwall so enthusiastically that he lost his voice.
Typically, Trump hasn’t been an avid football fan, but during the World Cup, he tends to follow the events closely.
He’s even been known to step in when he disagrees with FIFA decisions.
In an instance involving the USA team, their top goal scorer Folarin Balogun, 25, was sent off during a victory over Bosnia-Herzegovina.
Normally, this would mean the player would miss their upcoming match.

Nonetheless, after Trump took action on the matter, the rule was overturned, allowing Balogun to play against Belgium with his team later.
Trump expressed his gratitude for the decision on Truth Social, writing: “Thank you to Fifa for doing what was right, and reversing a great injustice!”
While Kane was instrumental in securing the historic win for England, it’s worth noting that several other players also contributed significantly to their team’s success.
