As speculation grows about Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s potential wedding at Madison Square Garden this Friday (July 3), establishments nearby have been notified about a possible security ‘shutdown’ due to the event.
The event is being dubbed the royal wedding by many, considering the possibility of the couple renting one of the world’s most famous venues to get married—allegedly.
Although the wedding is not yet confirmed, New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani has hinted at Swift and Kelce exchanging vows at the arena on Friday.
In a press briefing about the upcoming weekend heatwave, he advised: “My recommendation to all New Yorkers is to stay inside and stay cool.
“If you happen to be getting married at Madison Square Garden, you will be staying inside and you will be staying cool.”
Both Swift and Kelce, aged 36, have not publicly disclosed their wedding plans, though officials have received permits for the event in New York City.
Activity around the arena has been heightened today (July 2), with bar staff across from MSG indicating they have been alerted about a traffic shutdown ahead of the anticipated day.

Fiach, employed at The Rutherford bar on Eighth Avenue across from the arena, told UNILAD: “Security are saying that there’s going to be some sort of shutdown, but what that looks like still has a question mark over it.
“There will be a traffic shutdown, but there’s not going to be a pedestrian shutdown.”
Discussing security measures around the venue, he noted: “Overnight they’ve put up a bunch of barriers on the street. There seems to be more than usual.”
While on shift, he observed stage equipment being moved into the arena, amid rumors that Swift’s big day will feature performances by several A-list celebrities.
Logistical profiles and vendor confirmations suggest that the Swift-Kelce wedding will be an extensive celebration, expected to last over 10 hours on Friday alone.

More than 1,000 guests are expected to arrive around 3:30 pm, with the couple allegedly planning to exchange vows by 5:30 pm.
As reported by Page Six, a variety of food and ingredients were seen being delivered to Madison Square Garden in preparation for the event, hinting at the menu for guests.
Those attending might enjoy gourmet dining as boxes containing lobster meat were observed being brought into the venue.
It seems Swift and Kelce favor chicken, as several variations—breasts, legs, boneless, and blackened—were reportedly labeled on the boxes delivered.
Additionally, packages of French fries and thick-cut onion rings were spotted, along with fresh produce like red and orange peppers and romaine lettuce, as well as eggs, whole milk, and heavy whipping cream.
A Krispy Kreme truck was also reported to have arrived at MSG, although it’s unclear if wedding attendees will enjoy the Original Glazed Dozen, given a nearby donut shop.
A source with ‘direct knowledge’ informed TMZ that Swift ‘personally curated food stations’ for the occasion, featuring ‘specialty bites’ from various ‘go-to spots’ of hers.
