A star from Celebrity Traitors has shared her reasons for opting to amputate her second leg, attributing it to damage caused by prolonged use of crutches.
Ruth Codd, recognized for her performances in The Midnight Club, The Fall Of House Of Usher, and Irish Blood, first underwent leg amputation a decade after a soccer injury in the UK at the age of 15.
Her injury resulted in nerve damage, and despite multiple surgeries to alleviate the pain, none proved successful.
Thus, Codd had her leg amputated below the knee, and she is now undergoing the same procedure for her other leg.
The 29-year-old shared these developments in a TikTok video, telling her followers that there was both ‘good’ and ‘bad’ news.

She remarked: “The good news is that we’ve had a full circle moment and I’m back making TikTok content in my parents’ house.”
While this ‘full circle’ moment indicated her return to sharing personal messages with her audience, it wasn’t the only reason she posted.
She added: “The bad news is that I can’t do it in front of that lovely, floral blue wallpaper anymore due to the fact that that room is upstairs and I’ve just had my second below knee amputation.”
Codd noted that those facilities are currently inaccessible to her.
In a subsequent Instagram post, she elaborated on the necessity of another amputation.
The actress explained her reliance on crutches over the past eight years, which had caused her to stand on tiptoes.
“It’s just that this foot, I was on crutches for the bones of eight years and the way I used my crutches I was always kind of on my tippy toes,” Ruth detailed.
She mentioned this caused irreversible damage to her joints, which doctors were unable to fix.
“I’ve already had to have all my toes amputated, and so I have no toes and so my foot looks like a little hamburger,” she expressed.
Codd has been forthright about her amputation journey, initially gaining fame on TikTok due to her open discussions.
In 2022, she landed a role in The Midnight Club, and was also cast in the eagerly awaited How To Train Your Dragon live-action film, released this year.
Despite her recent health challenge, she has brought humor to her situation by introducing her new wheelchair, Fat Tony, to her audience.
