Donald Trump has used Truth Social to criticize Ukraine following his presentation of a 28-point peace proposal.
The conflict between Ukraine and Russia has persisted since February 2022, with Trump consistently asserting that he could bring an end to the hostilities.
According to a report from The Guardian in June, the conflict has resulted in the death or injury of approximately one million Russian soldiers, while nearly 400,000 Ukrainians have also lost their lives.
Given these grim statistics, leaders worldwide have been urging for a resolution to the war. Trump has recently proposed a peace agreement, which he desires Ukraine to consent to by November 27.
The proposal includes terms such as Ukraine ceding the Donbas region to Russia, reintegrating Russia into the global economy after enduring years of sanctions, and limiting Ukraine’s military to 600,000 troops.
Currently, US diplomats are meeting with Ukrainian officials in Geneva to deliberate on the plan. While these crucial discussions are underway, Trump, who is not present in Switzerland for the conference, has used Truth Social to criticize Ukraine and its President Volodymyr Zelensky for what he perceives as a lack of gratitude toward the United States.
Trump expressed his frustration, stating: “I INHERITED A WAR THAT SHOULD HAVE NEVER HAPPENED, A WAR THAT IS A LOSER FOR EVERYONE, ESPECIALLY THE MILLIONS OF PEOPLE THAT HAVE SO NEEDLESSLY DIED. UKRAINE ‘LEADERSHIP’ HAS EXPRESSED ZERO GRATITUDE FOR OUR EFFORTS, AND EUROPE CONTINUES TO BUY OIL FROM RUSSIA.
“THE USA CONTINUES TO SELL MASSIVE $AMOUNTS OF WEAPONS TO NATO, FOR DISTRIBUTION TO UKRAINE (CROOKED JOE GAVE EVERYTHING, FREE, FREE, FREE, INCLUDING ‘BIG’ MONEY!). GOD BLESS ALL THE LIVES THAT HAVE BEEN LOST IN THE HUMAN CATASTROPHE!”
