A woman has been sentenced in connection to the deaths of three tourists in Mexico who were killed last year.
Brothers Jake Robinson, 30, and Callum Robinson, 33, from Australia, along with their American friend Jack Carter Rhoad, 30, vanished during a surfing trip in Baja California, Mexico, in April 2024. Their disappearance was reported when they failed to arrive at their scheduled accommodation.
Tragically, their bodies were discovered a few days later in a remote area, 50 miles south of Ensenada, Mexico. Each of the men had been shot once in the back of the head.
The investigation revealed that the deaths resulted from a botched robbery.
Baja California state attorney general María Elena Andrade Ramírez previously explained: “The attackers drove by in their vehicle. They approached, with the intention of stealing their vehicle and taking the tires and other parts to put them on the older-model pickup they were driving.”

Ramírez further detailed: “When they [the foreigners] came up and caught them, surely, they resisted. And these people, the assailants, took out a gun and first they killed the one who was putting up resistance against the vehicle theft, and then others came along and joined the fight to defend their property and their companion who had been attacked, and they killed them too.”
Ary Gisell Silva Raya, 23, has confessed to robbery with violence. Although she is not thought to have participated in the murders of the Robinson brothers and Rhoad, it was Silva Raya who ‘instigated her companions to rob them of their belongings’, as reported by ABC News.
Following her guilty plea, Silva Raya received a 20-year prison sentence.
The three other individuals involved — Jesús Gerardo García Cota, his brother Irineo Francisco García Montaño, and Ángel Jesús León Aguilera — face murder charges and will stand trial next year. They are currently awaiting a hearing date, according to NBC San Diego.

Following the devastating deaths last year, Jake and Callum’s mother, Debra Robinson, spoke to the media in a heartfelt statement.
“Our hearts are broken and the world has become a darker place for us,” she expressed.
Debra described Callum as ‘a lovable, larger-than-life character’, while Jake was ‘a happy, gentle and compassionate soul’.
“Please live bigger, shine brighter and love harder in their memory,” she urged.
