Marjorie Taylor Greene, who was once a strong supporter of the MAGA movement, has surprisingly decided to step down from her role in Congress following escalating tensions with Donald Trump.
Greene initially enjoyed a positive relationship with Trump, but things have soured recently due to her persistent efforts advocating for the release of documents related to Jeffrey Epstein, a convicted sex offender.
Her outspoken stance on the Epstein files prompted Trump to label her a ‘lunatic’ in various posts on Truth Social. Greene has now decided to draw a line.
On Friday, November 21, Greene shared a statement on X, stating: “Standing up for American women who were raped at 14, trafficked and used by rich powerful men, should not result in me being called a traitor and threatened by the President of the United States, whom I fought for.”

She also announced that her last day in Congress would be January 5, 2026.
As a dedicated Republican, Greene initially pledged her support to the Make America Great Again initiative, which was pivotal to Trump’s initial presidential campaign.
However, her tenure has been marked by controversies, including her inclination towards conspiracy theories and making inflammatory comparisons, such as likening mandatory mask-wearing during the pandemic to the Holocaust.
Throughout her career, she has appeared to support violent rhetoric against Democrats and has recently clashed with Trump over issues like military aid to Israel and the Epstein affair.
This week, Greene disclosed that private security firms had warned her about threats to her safety.
On X, Greene posted that ‘a hot bed of threats against me are being fueled and egged on by the most powerful man in the world’. While she didn’t directly name Trump, she hinted at his identity by saying: “The man I supported and helped get elected.”

She noted that ‘aggressive rhetoric attacking me has historically led to death threats and multiple convictions of men who were radicalized by the same type rhetoric being directed at me right now. This time by the President of the United States’.
While Greene did not disclose the specifics of the threats she reportedly received, she commented: “As a woman I take threats from men seriously. I now have a small understanding of the fear and pressure the women, who are victims of Jeffrey Epstein and his cabal, must feel.”
