Taylor Swift Criticized as ‘Obnoxious’ After Wedding Song Choice Revealed

Taylor Swift has faced online criticism, being labeled as ‘shallow’ and ‘obnoxious,’ after the song she chose for her wedding march was leaked. This occurred following her grand wedding ceremony with Travis Kelce held at Madison Square Garden.

Despite the couple imposing strict non-disclosure agreements on their 1,000 guests, details of what many are calling the ‘royal wedding’ have started to emerge. Taking place on Friday, July 3, the couple’s nuptials led to road closures in New York City. The celebrity pair hosted their wedding at the massive venue, joined by family, friends, and a plethora of A-list guests.

Revelations about the wedding festivities have been made public, including details about the afterparty games, a luxury raffle, the food, and the invitation design.

A source has now informed US Weekly about the music that accompanied the special day of Swift and Kelce, sparking backlash online.

Considering Swift’s status as a global pop icon known for her romantic ballads, it might be surprising that she wouldn’t feature her own music at her wedding.

It has been disclosed that Taylor Swift, at 36, chose a string rendition of ‘Love Story’ for her walk down the aisle, sparking a flurry of social media reactions.

“Walk down the aisle to her own music ?!?! Lol, how obnoxious,” one user commented on X.

Another user remarked: “How shallow do you have to be to do all the things she did here?”

“That is pretty darn self-indulgent,” added a third commenter.

A fourth observed: “This woman’s narcissism is off the charts.”

The beloved track, originally released in 2008 as part of the album Fearless, topped the charts for 35 weeks. Its romantic lyrics have long been favored for occasions such as weddings.

On the Bussin’ With the Boys podcast in 2024, Kelce, her husband, shared his all-time favorite Swift songs.

The NFL star admitted: “I really started listening to Taylor’s music when she came out with 1989.”

“I knew who she was before that – we were the same age, so through high school and everything, I knew who Taylor was as she was getting her career started – but I think 1989 was where it really started to go crazy. So I’m going to say ‘Blank Space’, because that was like the first.”

British radio host Greg James shared on his Instagram Story: “I am currently experiencing the world’s greatest hangover and am unable to reply to the hilarious number of messages I have received over the last 24 hours.

“But just to say: true to her word, of course, the invitation arrived and of course I couldn’t tell anyone. And oh my god what an unbelievably brilliant night. I’m off for a nap.”

He later revealed to Radio 1 listeners that he initially thought the invite was a scam when he and his wife Bella Mackie received it electronically.

He recounted: “Until we were in there, there was a huge part of us, that me and Bella were like, ‘This could not be real. This could be a scam.’ So until we were in, we thought we may have made a big trip here for nothing.”

Once inside, the ceremony exceeded expectations. He continued: “You know at a wedding you sometimes get the first drink free, well this was you get the first 10,000 drinks free.”

James described it as ‘the best night, maybe ever.’
