Karoline Leavitt has addressed recent criticism following her comments about Gen Z’s ‘laziness’.
During an interview, Leavitt remarked that Gen Z has had ‘everything handed to them’ and suggested they could be sent to ‘Cuba or Iran’.
“My generation, Gen Z and those younger than me, have been raised with just silver spoons in their mouths,” she stated.
“Just getting everything handed to them, that’s not the values this country was built on.”
Leavitt further alleged that younger generations are experiencing a ‘liberal indoctrination’.
Her statements sparked significant backlash online, prompting a response from the White House Press Secretary.

In a social media statement, Leavitt accused ‘bad faith actors’ of misrepresenting her interview with Fox News, asserting it was ‘taken out of context’ in response to a question about ‘why so many young people are buying the false promise of ‘free stuff’ being promoted by communist politicians.’
Reaffirming her stance, she commented: “My answer: a combination of laziness, yes, and the liberal indoctrination that has been taking place in our education system for far too long.”
“There are far-left educators pumping students’ heads with garbage, convincing them that hard work and sacrifice won’t pay off down the road because they want them totally reliant on the government instead.”
Despite her earlier remarks, Leavitt acknowledged that ‘many Gen Z Americans are hardworking, entrepreneurial, and deeply patriotic’, emphasizing the importance of preserving the American Dream for them.

Leavitt critiqued political adversaries, saying: “It’s an undeniable fact that a growing number of young people in our country are falling for the lies of socialism and communism, sold to them by anti-American politicians who’ve never built anything, offer no real solutions, and are intent on tearing down everything that makes this country great.”
The Press Secretary declared her intention to ‘continue to call out the radical Democrats, socialists, and communists who are lying to our youth’.
Data from the non-partisan think tank the Pew Research Center indicates a significant divergence in the political views of older and younger US voters.
The findings reveal that Democrats are favored by age groups from 18-24 to 40-49, while those over 50 tend to support the Republican Party, with the strongest Democratic support among those under 40.
This occurs as young Americans confront escalating challenges such as rising living costs and economic instability.
