Madonna delivers harsh critique of well-known ex in latest album

Madonna has criticized her famous ex-husband in her latest album.

The ‘Into the Groove’ singer is set to release her 15th studio album, Confessions II, this Friday. This album includes 16 tracks and features a special appearance by Sabrina Carpenter.

Dedicated fans of Madonna know that she often uses her music to express personal experiences, including insights into past relationships.

According to the Mirror, the renowned musician has made a reference to her marriage with Sean Penn in one of her new songs.

Madonna, who ended her marriage with the actor in 1989, hints through the intense lyrics that Penn, now 65, was uncomfortable with her celebrity status.

She also appears to refer to Penn’s 1987 conviction for reckless driving.

“Love is the strangest thing. Just when you think you’ve finally let go, it comes back to you,” she sings in ‘Bizarre’.

“Movie star, deep blue eyes. In Hollywood, we’re a perfect prize. He drove way too fast, Shelby Cobra wasn’t meant to last.”

She further adds: “Roll out the carpet for us, but you don’t share it.

“All ’cause you’re threatened by me, you won’t admit it. The little things that you do don’t make me want you. Who knew love could be so bizarre?”

Reflecting on their past, Madonna continues: “I know I left you behind and you resent me. A thousand reasons why you could never have me.

“The thought of being with you is so indecent. I guess you’ll never know my dirty little secret.”

This latest album from Madonna follows a challenging period for the ‘Like a Prayer’ singer, as she battled a severe illness due to a ‘serious bacterial infection’ in 2023.

The situation was reportedly so dire that those close to her feared ‘her family was preparing for the worst’.

Madonna has since spoken candidly about the harrowing experience that nearly claimed her life.

“I want to say it was a crazy year for me as well. And I didn’t think I was gonna make it. Neither did my doctors. That’s why I woke up with all of my children sitting around me,” she recounted during a performance.

“I forgot five days of my life… or my death, I don’t really know where I was.

“But the angels were protecting me and my children were there. And my children always save me, every time.”

Madonna has since embraced a new spiritual path, which she describes as profoundly significant.
