Donald Trump has criticized Joe Biden while announcing plans for further renovations.
Last month, Donald Trump sparked controversy by initiating construction on the White House, targeting the historic East Wing to create space for a new ballroom.
According to officials, the wing will undergo modernization and expansion to accommodate a 90,000 square foot ballroom. This space will host up to 650 people and is expected to cost approximately $300 million.
In defense of this decision, Trump commented: “Nobody’s actually seen anything quite like it. I think it’ll be one of the great ballrooms anywhere in the world; it’s about $300 million.
“In order to do it properly, we had to take down the existing structure.”
On Wednesday, Trump posted on Truth Social, indicating that he plans to continue making changes.

His latest target is the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, where he also took aim at former president Joe Biden.
Trump stated: “This is the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool before Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum and I fix it. Study it hard because you won’t be seeing this Biden filth and incompetence much longer!”
He included a black and white video depicting the pool being cleaned, ending with the slogan ‘make D.C. beautiful again.’
The cost and timeline for this cleanup remain unspecified.
Although Trump hasn’t faced backlash for this particular initiative, previous criticism arose regarding the ballroom’s construction, with both Trump and the White House defending their decision.
The White House justified the ballroom project by highlighting the East Wing’s limited capacity of 200 people, which prompted the use of a ‘large and unsightly tent’ for bigger gatherings.
In a detailed explanation of the expansion, the White House noted: “The White House Ballroom will be substantially separated from the main building of the White House, but at the same time, its theme and architectural heritage will be almost identical.
“The site of the new ballroom will be where the small, heavily changed, and reconstructed East Wing currently sits.”
The construction plans have also provided a rendering of the ballroom’s design, featuring an expansive room adorned with elaborate gold details, from chandeliers to an ornate ceiling.
