A recent examination of Donald Trump’s schedule has highlighted a significant contrast in the frequency of his public appearances compared to his previous term.
Trump’s second term has been nothing short of contentious, marked by numerous surprising events over the past year.
Recently, a New York Times article provoked a strong response from the President and the White House after suggesting he was experiencing signs of aging and ‘fatigue’.
The article pointed out that Trump’s 2017 schedule differed considerably from that of 2025, using this as an indication of his purportedly diminished vitality.
The president promptly responded to these insinuations about his fitness, launching a vehement critique against the publication on social media.

In his retort, he labeled the NYT as a ‘cheap “RAG”’ and disparaged Katie Rogers, a co-author of the piece, calling her ‘a third rate reporter who is ugly, both inside and out’.
The Times cited examples they believe demonstrate his ‘fatigue’, such as an incident where he purportedly fell asleep within 20 minutes of sitting at his desk in the Oval Office while Dr. Oz, a former TV host and head of Medicare services, discussed reducing the cost of weight loss medications. They also considered other elements.
The NYT articulated that ‘Americans see Mr. Trump less than they used to’.
Based on their review of his schedule, they asserted that Trump ‘has fewer public events on his schedule and is traveling domestically much less than he did by this point during his first year in office, in 2017, although he is taking more foreign trips’.
They also claimed he ‘maintains a shorter public schedule than before’, typically timing his public engagements from noon to 5pm.
The authors noted that occasionally, his ‘battery shows signs of wear’.
They compared Trump’s 2017 schedule, which reportedly began at 10:31 am on average, with his later 2025 schedule and found he had conducted 39 percent fewer official appearances in his second term.
In 2017, Trump held 1,688 official events between January 20 and November 25, whereas, during the same period this year, the Times claims he held 1,029 official events.

Despite the analysis regarding the President and his energy levels, Trump was assertive in his Truth Social post, asserting he remains vigorous.
Trump commented on his tenure, stating: “To do this requires a lot of Work and Energy, and I have never worked so hard in my life. Yet despite all of this the Radical Left Lunatics in the soon to fold New York Times did a hit piece on me that I am perhaps losing my Energy, despite facts that show the exact opposite. They know this is wrong, as is almost every thing that they write about me, including election results, ALL PURPOSELY NEGATIVE.”
