Jessica Simpson recently shared a memorable experience involving Ashton Kutcher when he discovered she was still a virgin at the time.
At the age of 22, Simpson appeared on the popular TV show *That ’70s Show*, portraying Annette Berkardt, the love interest of Kutcher’s character, Michael Kelso.
In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, Simpson, now 45, took a trip down memory lane, reflecting on her past television interviews.
An interview from 2002, when she had just finished filming with Kutcher, came up in the conversation.
“I was just shooting a scene with Ashton, ‘Michael’, and I was telling him that we couldn’t do it because I was still a virgin,” Simpson recalled from her younger days.
While this referred to a specific scene in *That ’70s Show*, Simpson was genuinely a virgin at the time.
In a newly recorded interview, Simpson recalled, “I’ll never forget telling Ashton I was a virgin [in real life].” Kutcher’s reaction was, “why?”
Simpson explained that at that age, she was waiting for her future husband, which was her reason for abstaining.
Reflecting on the 2002 clip, she said, “At this age I’m very innocent. I’m not thinking about other people and their sex lives at all, but I’ve always been open. Legs crossed, but open.”
Simpson has always been open about her virginity. In a 2000 interview with PEOPLE (via news.au.com), she stated, “My virginity is something I stand strong in. It’s not always easy, but I do respect it. Virginity can be cool and sexy.”
In the same year she filmed with Kutcher, Simpson married Nick Lachey. The pair had first met in 1998.
Their relationship gained significant attention when their reality TV show *Newlyweds* debuted in 2003. The show ran for three seasons, but the couple separated in 2005.
In a joint statement, they announced: “After three years of marriage, and careful thought and consideration, we have decided to part ways. This is the mutual decision of two people with an enormous amount of respect and admiration for each other. We hope that you respect our privacy during this difficult time.”
Simpson filed for divorce in December 2005, with the process finalized in July 2006, according to PEOPLE.
Lachey later married Vanessa Joy Minnillo in 2011, and together they now host the popular Netflix dating show *Love Is Blind*.
Simpson married NFL player Eric Johnson in 2014. However, the couple parted ways earlier this year.
