Morgan Geyser, one of the two teenagers charged in the 2014 stabbing of a classmate, escaped from custody by removing her monitoring bracelet.
In 2014, Geyser and Anissa Weier attacked their classmate, Payton Leutner, and stabbed her 19 times.
They claimed the attack was meant to ‘please’ Slender Man, a fictional entity created in 2009 by Eric Knudsen.
The attack took place in the woods of Waukesha, Wisconsin, where the two students lured Leutner.
Remarkably, Leutner survived and underwent a six-hour surgery that saved her life.
Geyser and Weier were charged as adults with first-degree attempted intentional homicide but received different sentences.
Geyser, now 23, was found guilty of the charges but was deemed not guilty by reason of mental illness.
She was sentenced to up to 40 years in a psychiatric institution but was released under supervision in January.
Several months after her release, Geyser cut off her monitoring bracelet and went missing, according to police.
Madison Police Department shared a Facebook post on November 23 stating: “Officers are searching for a woman who cut off her Department of Corrections monitoring bracelet and left a group home Saturday night.
“Morgan Geyser was last seen in the area of Kroncke Dr. around 8 p.m. with an adult acquaintance. Her whereabouts are unknown as of Sunday morning.
“The Madison Police Department was notified of her disappearance Sunday morning.”
People were encouraged to contact 911 if they saw her.
Geyser’s mother made a public appeal for her daughter to return home. In a statement to ABC News, she said: “If you see Morgan, please call the police. Morgan, if you can see this, we love you and just want to know you are safe.”
Leutner’s family also reassured the public about their safety in a statement to the news outlet.

“The family would like to thank all of the law enforcement entities involved in the efforts to apprehend Morgan,” the statement continued. “The Leutner family also wish to thank the outpouring of support from family, friends, and well-wishers who have contacted them during this difficult time.”
Fortunately, the 23-year-old was found yesterday evening at a Thornton’s truck stop alongside another individual.
Geyser and the unidentified person reportedly boarded a bus to Posen, approximately 25 minutes south of Chicago.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports that both Geyser and the other person were taken into custody around 10:34 p.m.
